How it compares
- 8oz mesh for outdoor wind; 13oz matte for stages and retail; 13oz gloss for outdoor daylight.
- Mesh wins in real wind; vinyl wins everywhere else. Substrate by use case.
- Same vinyl, different surface — lighting in the venue decides which one wins.
- Standard for trade shows, premium for lobbies, wide premium for horizontal layouts, double-sided for dividers.
What substrate is the vinyl banners printed on?
Vinyl Banners prints on a premium vinyl substrate engineered for durable indoor and outdoor signage.
How is the banner finished at the edges?
Standard finishing is heat-welded hems on all four edges (no thread to unravel) and brass grommets every 24 inches along the top and bottom edges for rope or zip-tie hanging. Pole pockets — open tubes along the top, bottom, or both — are available as an upgrade for banners that hang from horizontal rods rather than grommets.
How should I set up my print file?
Build at the final trim size plus 2 inches of bleed on each edge for grommet clearance. Keep important text and logos at least 3 inches inside the trim. Export as a press-ready PDF at 100–150 dpi (vinyl prints don't need 300 dpi at typical viewing distances) in CMYK. Outline fonts before export. Avoid hairline strokes — the smallest reliable stroke on vinyl is about 1pt.
Indoor or outdoor — which is this banner built for?
Both. Indoor: stages, conferences, retail interiors, podium backdrops — matte 13oz is the default. Outdoor in light wind: 13oz vinyl (matte for overcast, gloss for daylight). Outdoor in real wind: 8oz polyester mesh, which lets wind pass through.
How long do these banners last?
Indoor: years of usable life with reasonable handling. Outdoor: months of full sun and weather exposure before colour fade becomes visible (UV-cured inks help but don't eliminate fade). For permanent outdoor installations beyond one season, plan to refresh annually.
